Mofo World Tour - Independence

Dear Friends,

I'd like to share some new music and news with you.

You can launch a recent mix by clicking on the H-track logo.

The H-Track selection is called: "Independence." And was recorded on July 4th, 2004. It's lengthy...nuggets for all. gems for the patient. Read on.

Some MORE NEW music just released! Lounge Candelas Version II.
Many of you are familiar with Candelas Lounge and also the first compilation released in 2002. This compilation is the second from Hugh and Candelas Lounge. Symbio was fortunate enough to get to design the packaging for this most recent compilation. It was truly rewarding and fun project. I think you'll find it sufficiently spacey! Thanks to our friends at NASA. Each set of 2 discs will run you 25 bucks...but it's soooo worth it!

I sound biased, but the music is stellar and you will love it. It was an honor to be a part of such a beautiful project and it's full of soul. Thank you's go to Hugh and Alberto for making it happen. It's hard for me to describe what music means to me. This music even more. It's such a huge part of my life and my happiness. I hope by sharing it others can enjoy it as much as I do.

Independence.

Recently I have been forced to evaluate my independence. On many levels...and what independence really means to me. I have always viewed myself as an incredibly independent person.

A free spirit. Marching to the beat of my own drum....machine.

Spiritually and mentally I am incredibly independent. Some call me a control freak. or just a freak.

However, I've realized that my independence has mostly been an illusion. Independence has been afforded to me by all the people in my life. People I rely on. Family and friends who have all helped me in some way. Financially, spiritually or emotionally.

No one is truly independent. No person can survive without depending on something. Air, energy, love, music, food, or money. We all need something. We are all dependant.

It's been just over a year that I arrived back to California. Starting my business has been challenging and exciting. Without my mother's unconditional support none of it would have been possible. As I look at the past year it's filled with family support, friends and great clients, many based on personal relationships.

It's not been easy. But it's been rewarding.

Have I mentioned we are currently accepting clients. (marketing!)

Another major event in my life recently. I am excited and proud to say I became a naturalized citizen of the United States of America. In other words, I'm no longer a resident alien. ;-)

This independence gives me a new found global freedom and independence. One that I value immensely.
This could not have happened without my fathers long immigration process before me. Thank you.

I learned this exciting news on July 2nd, 2004.
It's funny, my California experience began in Los Angeles on the 17th of April, 1978 as a five year old child. Traveling in an orange VW bus, we set out and visited 48 states, practically every national park and each major city the United States. For more than a year we traveled. Meeting new friends every day. People. Everyday people. from all walks of life. Seeing some of the most beautiful places on earth. From Yellowstone to NYC. The everglades to Niagara falls. it was epic.

Of course, I managed to get lost fairly frequently wandering off on my own. Whether it be in Busch Gardens, the Grand Canyon or Circus Circus in Vegas. Wandering away to check out a fountain, or a slot machine on the floor of the casino probably felt very liberating. I felt free! Completely independent. But it wasn't true.

I'd generally turn up in the custody of a security guard and would usually be enjoying a cold milkshake oblivious to the fact that my parents were frantically looking for me. My sister, far too responsible to get herself lost, didn't get nearly as many milkshakes.

Once my favorite hat blew off my head in a gust of wind. Ordinarily that wouldn't be a big deal. Unless you are sitting on the edge of the GRAND CANYON!! that sucked. I actually believed my mom when she said my dad would find it since he was hiking down there somewhere. It made me stop crying at least.

It was an amazing adventure and the entire country was my home and school for over 1 year. It's citizens my friends.

Naturally with my new citizenship the 4th of July this year would be even more special for me. And it was.

It was no coincidence that I spent my 4th of July in San Diego, CA. In fact, I spent it just one floor below my old apartment in the same building in which my San Diego experience began in 1999. Most of my day on the 4th was spent with Hugh riding our bikes around SD. It was a pleasure to avoid the crazy beaches on this holiday. We cruised "playastyle" around the city. To many of my old spots and some new. Ventanas, the new ball park, Sea port village, Little Italy. The W. All the way stopping for cold beverages (playastyle) to quinch our thirst.

In the afternoon Sharla came down from Santa Barbara and joined Hugh and I for a night of fireworks from the balcony, music and fun @ hugh's loft. Coincidentally, Hugh and I met Sharla three years ago at the Coachella Music Festival. Turns out you meet cool people at cool festivals. interesting... It couldn't have been more perfect and fun. A very special set was recorded and posted. it's what you are listening to now. This is a three hour snippet from nearly 11 hours which were recorded. The rest of the file was mysteriously corrupted. the music gremlins! It was amazing and I guess you had to be there!

Friends,
In the daily celebration of our independence let us not forget our dependencies. on each other. on our families, our friends, and our loved ones. We all rely and are critically dependent on so much. Our fragile environment. our delicate atmosphere. our beautiful planet and of course the life giving star at the center of our solar system. The Sun.

I am very lucky to have my family and friends. I am constantly amazed at the people in my life. This group of people in my life for one reason or another. They are some of the most unique and special people on earth.

Other recent fun highlights have included:
Coachella Music festival (May 1st / 2nd).
Eric and Maggies wedding in San Fran
Sunday Sklyine.
Del Mar Race track.
Harvey's B day in Malibu.

Keep on rockin' in the free world!
